GENERAL INFORMATION
REGISTRATION / CHECK IN
You will be required to complete a guest registration form upon arrival at Villa Belle Plage. Please be assured that your personal information remains secure and at no point will we give your details to any third party.
SMOKING
You are respectfully reminded that Villa Belle Plage is a non-smoking establishment and we request that you refrain from smoking whilst inside the villa.
You may smoke on the veranda, in the garden and on the beach beds but please dispose of your cigarette ends responsibly using the ashtray and the sand bucket provided.
If you are found to have been smoking in your room, we will levy a deep cleaning charge equivalent to one night’s accommodation.
PARKING & ACCESS TO MAIN ROAD
Please park responsibly using the designated spaces on the road. When driving on the two-strips concrete path watch for oncoming traffic as the path is for one car only.
ACCESS TO VILLA & KEYS
Your villa has a set of two keys; for the kitchen door and the veranda/terrace sliding door. Carry them with you when you go out.
You are welcome to come and go as you please but if arriving late we do ask you to keep the noise down out of respect for other guests.
Please note that the outside security lights on each villa will stay on all night.
If you inadvertently take a key home with you we will give you 14 days to post it back otherwise, a replacement key charge of Euro 20.00 will be levied to your account. Leave the keys on the kitchen table when you check-out.
CHECK OUT
Guests are requested to settle their bill on check-in time. Very rare occasion we can take payment either after breakfast or the evening prior.
We accept payment by cash – local currency, US dollars, Euro and Pound Sterling (we do not accept personal / traveller’s cheques). All guests are requested to vacate their room by 10.00am on the day of departure.
Guests wishing to have a later check out are requested to check with us the day before to ensure their room is available. If available, a late check out is applicable.
Please ensure you take all your belongings with you.
Leave the keys on the kitchen table.
PROBLEM WITH THE ACCOMMODATION
It’s important that you clarify with us any problems with the accommodation before you report to your representatives so that we have the opportunity to rectify any issues.
If there is anything that we have missed to include in the room or if anything is broken please let us know immediately so that we can rectify it before the next guests arrive.
Things sometimes do not work, please do not try and fix it yourself, let us know and we will do it for you.
SECURITY
The villa is safe to stay at. Due to its high standard of living, which is comparable with central Europe, the crime rate in the Seychelles is very low. Like in most hotel room you need to ensure that all the doors and windows are securely locked when you go to sleep and when you are out of the villa. We advise to keep all of your belongings in the bedroom and lock the bedroom door when to go to sleep and when you are out of the villa. There is a small safe deposit box in the wardrobe make use of it.
If you leave your windows & doors open when you are out or when you go to sleep it's all your responsibility.
ROOM INFORMATION
PILLOWS & SHEET CHANGES
Due to the number of our guests suffering from allergies all our beds are made up with two synthetic pillows (additional two available in your wardrobe)
As part of our quality grading, you are welcome to have your bedding changed every three days whilst staying with us however, in line with our environmental policy we prefer to only wash bedding if absolutely necessary and therefore will only change bedding if requested.
FOOD IN THE VILLA
The villa is fully equipped for self-catering. Tea & coffee supplied in your villa are with our compliments and are replenished daily. Carton milk is available on request and should you need more supplies during your stay, please feel free to ask.
Please do not over-fill the kettle to avoid wasting electricity.
Tap water meets W.H.O. (World Health Organization) specifications and is safe to drink nation-wide.
The tap water in your villa is drinking water, we do not have water storage tanks and our cold water comes straight from the mains. However, it is advisable to boil the water for drinking in order to remove the chlorine taste.
The cook top is LPG gas and the grill & oven are electric.
Do not leave left-over food or food packages around as they attract ants. Advisable to keep them in a plastic bag in the fridge and take them out for us to collect when we clean the villa daily. Same with dirty dishes, being in the tropics they will attract ants, please wash them after use.
Please do not cut open coconut on the bench top or the steps. Cut it outside the villa using the cut off tree truck on the beach area to place the coconut on. Or ask for help and we are welcome to do it for you.
There are three mini-markets within walking distance where you can find most things for cooking. Carry shopping plastic bags are banned in Seychelles. A carry bag is provided in the villa for you to use and is hanged next to the fridge.

There are more mini-markets on the way to Grand Anse and also in Grand Anse Shopping Centre.
WiFi INTERNET
WiFi internet access is available inside and out side the villa, even on the beach and is FREE & unlimited for guests to use. To connect please select use the code supplied to you on arrival.
The internet is reasonable fast so make use of it especially uplaoding photos and videos. Ask you family and friends to like them if posting on social media. Please post some on our facebook page @villabelleplage
TELEPHONE
Mobile phone signals are pretty good. No telephone is provided in the villa as most client use their mobile. You can buy a prepaid SIM card at MAS mini-market or any other shops for SCR100 (EUR7) then you add on your top-up.
For someone to call you from overseas they need to use Seychelles country which is 248. To call overseas you need to dial 00 first.
TELEVISION
Television remotes are in each villa and the television offers a wide range of digital and radio channels. If you have any problems, please do not hesitate to contact reception.
VILLA CLEANING
We will make up your bed, replenish your tea tray and clean your bathroom every day between the hours of 10.00 am and 12.00 pm. We shall knock on the kitchen door between this time and we expect you to move under the veranda or to the beach area in order to give us space to clean.
If you have your ‘DO NOT DISTURB’ sign placed on the outside of the kitchen door between 10am and 12 pm means you do not need your room clean.
IRONING & LAUNDRY
Please let us know if you wish to use an iron and ironing board. We will bring them into your villa. Please return them before you go out as irons are not permitted in villa because of fire risk. There is a small clothes rack you can use under the veranda. Washing, drying and ironing can be arranged for a small charge, please ask for further details.
HAIR DRYER / SEWING KIT
These are usually stored in your en-suite vanity.
NOISE
As guests come to relax at Villa Belle Plage, we respectively request that you do not play music or use the television on a high volume especially after 10.00pm.
AIR CONDITION
As we are in the tropics it gets hot and humid especially from November to April. The villa is equipped with ceiling fans in the sitting room and the bedroom. Air condition is in the bedroom for a good night sleep. It works better with the bedroom and bathroom doors closed. During the day it is best to cool off on the beach beds or under the veranda.
We are energy saving conscious, if you are going be out for the whole day or for a long period of time we would appreciate if you could turn off all lights and the air condition when you leave
RECYCLING & RUBBISH REMOVAL
We will empty your rubbish bin daily when we clean your villa. If you opt for us not to clean your villa, then you have to place the rubbish outside the kitchen door for us to collect. There is replacement bin liner in the kitchen cabinet under the sink. There is no recycling system in Seychelles. Only plastic bottles are recycled so please place them separate on the cabinet top. Carry shopping plastic bags are banned in Seychelles. A carry bag is provided in the villa for you to use and is hanged next to the fridge.
SWIMMING, SNOKELING & FISHING OFF OUR BEACH
Swimming, snorkeling and fishing off the beach in front of the villa is safe subject to weather condition. There could be strong current at times. Ask us if it's safe before you to do any of these activities
You can go bare foot where the sandy bottom part is but try and avoid the darker bottom part as there might be sharp coral, unless you wear beach shoes. There are two monsoons in Seychelles (there are no four seasons here). The dry and windy monsoon is from May to October, where the ocean is rough and the wind is stronger. During that time of the year there is more sunshine and it is cooler.
The wet and calmer monsoon is from November to April where the ocean is calm and the wind is less strong. It is hot and humid and is best for water activity like swimming, snorkeling, diving and fishing.
At Anse Kerlan beach during the dry monsoon the sea is rough and the beach can be covered with sea weed but it gets the nice cool breeze. During this time of the year it’s best to swiim at Anse Lazio or Cote D’Or beach. Always watch for warning signs for swimming.
FORGOTTEN ANYTHING?
Shaving kits, tooth brushes, sanitary products and basic painkillers can be purchased from the mini-markets or from the souvenir shops.
If guest property is found after departure, we will endeavour to contact you. If you would like your items returning, we are happy to send them back to you. We simply ask for the postage and handling fee. Unclaimed items will be disposed of after 14 days.
EN-SUITE INFORMATION
TOWELS
Please help us maintain our commitment to being environmentally friendly, by using the following system to prevent the unnecessary washing of towels: If you leave your towels in the shower, we will gladly change them. If you leave your towels on the rail, you are happy to re-use them.
Please use the towel rail in your en-suite or the clothes rack on the veranda to keep your towels aired.
Please refrain from using the white towel to wipe off make-up and sunscreen as they stain the towels. Please use tissues or paper towels.
TOILET
Villa Belle Plage’s wastewater is serviced by a septic tank. Please do not flush anything other than a minimum amount toilet paper down the toilet.
All other items should be placed in the bathroom bin (which we empty daily).
SHOWERS
The showers are fed directly from the mains water supply and so can be easily controlled by the user.
Hot water is from solar heater and it might take a little while for hot water to come through as we have a central hot water system. Turn the tap mixer to full hot until hot water comes then adjust the mix accordingly.
Our shower floor is designed to be anti-slip. The flooring in the en-suite, although tiled, is also non-slip however we do recommend you use the toweled bath mat provided.
SHOWER GEL / SHAMPOO BOTTLES
In line with our environmental policy, we have chosen to use larger, refillable bottles of shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. We hope you enjoy using these luxury products. We respectfully remind guests that these products are to be used as required and then left in the room ready for the next guest.
CLOTHES DRYING RACK
Whilst out for the day there is a good chance you will get wet from swimming and from the rain. There is a clothes drying rack on the veranda for you to use so you have them ready for the next adventure.
Please do not hang wet clothes or towels on the furniture.
COMMUNAL AREAS
BEACH BED AREA
Two beach beds & cushions are allocated per villa. Cushions are kept on the veranda to keep them dry from the rain. At the end of the day please return them on the veranda. If you take the beach beds onto the beach please return them back up on the high ground to prevent them from getting washed away by the waves.

It is safe to walk on Praslin, however if you are going to do hiking in the forest trails it is best to go with a guide.

TAXIS
You can call for a taxi or hail one from the street, but note that any vehicle with no "Taxi Roof Sign" is not a legal taxi and they have no insurance covering passenger.
Taxi cost is metered but you can negotiate with the driver before the trip.
We can organise for a taxi for you to and from Praslin airport or the fast ferry jetty in Baie Sainte Anne. Please ask us.
From the airport to Villa Belle Plage (2km) it cost SCR200 and from the jetty (13km) it is SCR500.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
We strive to offer luxurious accommodation without effecting our surrounding environment by understanding how we can exist with our environment rather than working against it.
In light of this we have introduced a number of policies which we feel reduce the impact of running a guest house on the small island of Praslin, but in no way diminish the luxurious opulence that our guests expect from Villa Belle Plage.
KEY POINTS:
Sheets and pillows will be changed after every guest departure. In line with our quality grading, bedding should be changed after every three nights however, bed linen will only be changed if absolutely necessary or if requested.
The hot water is provided by a solar heater on the roof and is boostered by electricity if needed..
Our carbon footprint is reduced dramatically by using this method for hot water heating making Villa Belle Plage carbon neutral.
Air-conditioning in the bedroom is electricity powered by fossil fuel run generator and to reduce loss of cooling the ceiling is insulated and windows are covered with thick drapes to help keep the heat out.
All the lights in the villa are energy saving. Guests are encouraged to turn air condition, lights, chargers and electrical equipment off when not in use.
Towels are washed only if necessary by adapting the following in-room system: towels changed if left in the shower, towels on the rail will be re-used by the guest.
Chemicals used to clean the villa are biodegradable and environmentally friendly to reduce the impact on our septic tank and the water systems of Anse Kerlan.
We also buy concentrate and then dilute it down to reduce waste.
Refillable dispensers of shower gel, shampoo and hand lotion to reduce waste.
Economical toilet cisterns with reduced and full flush to save water.
All cold water from our taps is drinking water.
Recycling all plastic bottles which is generated by the business. Guests are also encouraged to recycle the plastic bottles and reduce land fill waste.
Reusable shopping bag in the kitchen hanged next to the fridge for guest to use.

Valle De Mai national park - Tel 4236220
Take a hike in the Valle De Mai forest, remnants of the original giant palm jungles which has often been described as a "Garden of Eden" thanks to its secluded and mystical nature. Here you’ll find the Coco de Mer palm tree that produces a heart-shaped fruit of up to 25 kg, the largest and heaviest seeds in the world. Its distinct shape, reminiscent of a woman's pelvic region. Vallée de Mai is designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

A two-three hour guided tour through the thick Coco Der Mer palm forest. A winding path through the valley will take you to the view point where you can enjoy a beautiful view of Praslin itself, as well as the other inner islands of the Seychelles. Anse Georgette beach. Half an hour walk will take you to perhaps this most beautiful beach on Praslin thanks to its incredible mixture of pristine white sand, bright turquoise ocean surface, and tropical palm trees (by appointment only if you go through the resort hotel).
There is also a forest trail to that beach and you have to be fit to be able to do it and will take you longer. There is no shops or restaurant at the beach, therefore bring along a pic nic pack See pictures of the beach
Anse Lazio beach. Spend the day at Anse Lazio, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, perfect for photos, sunbathing, swimming, and snorkelling. You can get there by car or by bus and it is free entry. If you are adventurous a fit enough you can do the one-hour hike through the mountain. The start of the hiking trail is only 800 meters from the villa. Just ask at the reception for direction.
Best place on Praslin to snorkel (on the left hand side of the beach when facing the ocean). At the very end on the beach past the river there is a sort of rock pool where you can see fish and also occasional sea turtle feeding when you snorkel. There is no shop at the beach, only one restaurant that is opened during Covid-19 times
Cote D'Or beach / Anse Volbert beach. The incredible variety of activities that you can do here, including swimming, snorkelling, surfing, windsurfing, scuba diving, fishing, and sailing. There are a variety of restaurants, cafes and souvenir shops
Praslin Museum. Cote D’Or - Praslin's first museum displays the traditions and culture of the Seychellois. Visitors can actively participate in activities such as opening coconuts, grilling breadfruit, or take part in various other traditional activities. The garden is also home to many endemic and medicinal plants.
ISLAND DAY EXCURSIONS
Full day with BBQ lunch & snorkelling from €95 per adult
Curieuse island & Saint Pierre. Take a full day boat excursion to Curieuse island where you can feed the giant tortoises and pet their babies followed by a BBQ lunch. Then a walk round the island will take you to a crystal clear ocean where you can snorkel and swim and feed the many fishes that come really close to you. The final stop on the tour is at St. Pierre for snorkeling, allowing you to discover the unique marine life of the region. Cost from €95 per adult, includes entry fee, BBQ lunch & drinks.snorkeling gears and hotel pick up & drop off. A guided tour of Curieuse island is also included.

Cousin island nature reserve. A fantastic and rare opportunity to get up close and personal with the fearless wildlife. This is a classic desert island scenario, lots of different birds, lizards and several tortoises. You’ll also learn about the different kinds of plants, trees and the ecological system on this island. Cost €40 per adult for the boat trip plus SCR600 for nature reserve entry fee.
